235 jobs on offer with DIY chain

DIY chain B&Q has launched a recruitment drive for 235 jobs at a new Kent superstore.

The B&Q Warehouse in Longfield Road, Tunbridge Wells, is looking for people with “a positive attitude".

The store is due to open in May and has already taken on a number of people. But bosses say there are still up to 75 full-time and 160 part-time jobs up for grabs.

They are across all departments including checkout operators, night-crew and customer advisers on the shop floor.

Jobs are also on offer for experts with practical experience in the home improvement trade. The chain is targeting plumbers, electricians and gardening experts.

Graham Adams, general manager, said: “The most important attributes will be a 'can do' attitude and a sense of team spirit.

He said that full training would be given, offering transferable skills that people could use to develop a career. The over-50s are being encouraged to apply because of the “extra skills and experience” they bring to the job.
