Violent adverts target young drivers

A series of hard-hitting adverts, which have been withdrawn from YouTube for being too violent, are being shown to young drivers in Kent.

The Kent and Medway Safety Camera Partnership has launched the ads and is showing them to young people across the county at nightclubs, cinemas, town centres and known hangouts to try to bring home the consequences of irresponsible driving.

Recent research from the partnership has shown that young drivers felt the worst possible consequence of driving irresponsibly was to kill or injure someone else, particularly a child.

Communications officer Katherine Barrett said: "The impacts of a car crash can be far-reaching and we hope this activity will making people think about what they could be responsible for and how their lives could be changed before they get behind the wheel."
