Kent Police report catching biker at 109mph on A259 in Dymchurch

The shocked officers posted a snapshot of the moment the bike was recorded travelling along the A249 towards the town – a section of road that carries a speed limit of just 40mph.

In a Facebook post, an officer wrote: “The rider of this bike can expect to hear from us after we recorded it travelling at 109mph on the A259 in Dymchurch, which has a 40mph speed limit.

“Please remember to ride and drive safely at all times to ensure a safer summer for all.”

Hitting more than 100mph falls into a Category C – the most serious – speeding offence, which is 66mph and above for a 40mph limit.

It carries with it a driving ban, and a fine of potentially 150% of relevant weekly income, if a driver is convicted.

This is the latest in a number of speeding incidents in the county this year.

In April, a reckless pensioner caught zooming down the motorway at 102mph was banned from driving for just a week.

Margaret Plume pleaded guilty to the offence of exceeding the 70mph speed limit while whizzing along the M20 London-bound, near Maidstone.

The catering boss, of Crownfields, Weavering, near Maidstone told the court she was in a "heightened emotional state" after receiving some sad news and did not realise how fast she was driving.

Police have been contacted for comment about the Dymchurch incident.
