Yobs reportedly rang the doorbell before smashing the window and running away from the cul-de-sac off Fairfield Road near the Plough Inn pub.

Officers have not ruled out if the incident was related to trick or treaters saying they are "keeping an open mind" for the reason of the attack.

A spokesman said they did not have a description of any suspects said to be involved or if anyone was seen dressed up in Halloween costumes prior to the incident.

PC Andy Perham said: “We received a report that someone smashed the window of a house with a plant pot, rang the doorbell and then ran away.

“A group of young people were seen in the area at the time and we would particularly like to hear from them as part of our investigations.”

It is not believed the occupants of the house or the suspected vandals were known to each other.

An appeal has been set up by Kent Police for anyone in the area with information encouraged to come forward.

Witnesses can call Kent Police on 01843 222289 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting reference number ZY/039228/16.
