Coronavirus Kent: Teachers at Greatstone Primary School collaborate for music video

Staff at a Kent primary school have come together - albeit separately - to make a video designed to put a smile on pupil's and parent's faces.

The musical collaboration comes from 22 teachers and teaching assistants at Greatstone Primary School, on Romney Marsh.

The teachers enjoy a sing-a-long

The school has been conducting virtual lessons to its pupils since closing on Friday, March 20 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

But with lessons having now stopped altogether for the Easter break, teachers wanted to do something to keep spirits up.

Each colleague was tasked with making a video on their own, with all the clips then being pieced together for the eight minute mash up.

It includes hits such as Queen's I Want To Break Free, Daniel Bedingfield's Gotta Get Thru This, I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor and Elton John's I'm Still Standing.

In the video, staff are seen getting out of bed, dancing in the garden and relaxing on a swing.

It was initially just posted to parents via a private message, but following requests to share it wider, has now been posted on social media.

It has been viewed more than 5,000 times.

Teaching assistant Yasmine Addison said: "When we broke up for Easter we had the fun idea to put a video out.

"It is a light hearted gift from the teachers to the pupils.

"It is a chance for them to see us in a different light. But also to show we are still there to support them."
