Power cut in New Romney

By Molly Mileham-Chappell

Residents on Romney Marsh were without electricity this morning after an unexpected power cut.

UK Power Networks confirmed on their website that the suspended service to the Marsh affected the TN28 postcode, involving more than 150 customers from around 9am.

The cause given is down to engineers redirecting power due to a fault on the electricity network.

More than a dozen calls were received about the issue.

Homes in Greatstone and Littlestone were also affected.

All power was returned by 12.15pm.

A UK Power Networks spokeswoman said: "Engineers are working as quickly as possible to restore electricity supplies to customers in the Sussex Road area of New Romney after power supplies were interrupted at 8.47am today.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working to reconnect power."
