A woman suffered head injuries after she was attacked by a stranger on a footpath.
The incident happened in a woodland area at the end of Dunes Road, near Greatstone, between 4.30pm and 5.30pm yesterday (Saturday).
The victim was walking along when it is believed a man she did not know approached and assaulted her.
She ran from the scene and police were alerted. She has since attended hospital for treatment to a head injury.
The man is described as being white, in his early 20s, between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 8ins, of skinny build and with light brown hair. He was wearing glasses with thin frames, a red and black checked shirt and light blue jeans.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Finnis said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim and residents will notice an increased police presence in the area while inquiries are completed.
“We are appealing for anybody who saw a man of this description or anyone acting suspiciously in the area to contact us.
“Officers are also asking residents with private CCTV, doorbell cameras and drivers with dashcam to check for any relevant footage.”
