Royal St George’s to host 2017 Amateur Championship

The R&A has announced that Royal St George’s will host the 2017 Amateur Championship.

It will be the 14th time, but first since 2006, that the famous links at Sandwich, where Darren Clarke won The Open in 2011, has hosted the event.

Frenchman Julien Guerrier defeated Adam Gee from Leatherhead by 4&3 in the 36-hole final in 2006.

The qualifying stroke play rounds will also be played at nearby Prince’s.
