A crash on the M25 caused delays this afternoon.

The anticlockwise carriageway was blocked by the collision, which happened close to junction 5 for Sevenoaks and the M26 around 12.50pm.

Congestion queued back to the Clacket Lane Services after the crash between a car and a lorry.

Traffic was stopped while traffic officers worked at the scene and moved the vehicle to the hard shoulder.

Firefighters were called after reports that a vehicle had lost control and was facing the wrong way on the carriageway and smoking.

A member of the public had used a fire extinguisher to quash potential flames, and firefighters were then not required.

Crews left the scene just after 1.15pm.

The carriageway was reopened just after 1.30pm.

No injuries were reported.
