Car stolen with baby inside

A 19-month-old baby boy was in a car when it was stolen from beside a bottle bank on Friday morning.

The black VW Golf, registration Y343 MJO, was taken from the bottle bank car park in Suffolk Way, Sevenoaks, at 10.20am while the boy's mother was using the recycling bins.

Police patrols, including a police helicopter, dog handlers and a search and rescue dog were mobilised across the area.

At 10.50am, shortly after a member of the public had reported seeing the car in the Otford area, the child was found at the train station in Otford after he was let out of the car.

The boy's motherwas taken to Otford to be reunited with her son, who was safe and well.

Insp David Currie said: "I am pleased we are able to report a happy ending to this story and we are very grateful to everyone who helped us."
