Detectives investigate reports of rogue trader in Sundridge

Detectives investigating a report of a bogus tradesman in Sundridge have issued an e-fit of a man they want to speak to.

An elderly man reported having £450 stolen in the incident, on the afternoon of January 4.

He told police he received a telephone call from a man claiming to work for a drainage company, who told him he needed to leave some machinery at his property and would require a cash deposit of £1,500.

The victim could only afford £450, which he was told was an acceptable amount and led to him withdrawing the money from a cash machine later that day.

A short time later the man called at the victim’s home on Main Roadand was invited inside.

He is then reported to have left the property to get a receipt for the deposit but did not return. The victim then noticed his wallet containing the £450 and other personal documents was missing.

The suspect is described as being a middle-aged white man, 5ft 10in, of stocky build and with fair receding hair.
