'Drink-driver' accused of crashing into bollards, making threats and attacking officers in London Road, Westerham

A suspected drink-driver accused of crashing into bollards in Westerham, threatening members of the public and then attacking police officers is to appear in court.

Police were called at 11.30pm on Wednesday after the crash in London Road, where it was claimed the person behind the wheel got out and made threats before leaving the scene.

The suspect was located shortly after, when it is alleged officers were kicked and pushed.

Andrew Tree, 43, of Blackthorne Road, Biggin Hill was arrested and later charged with two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and with using threatening or abusive words, or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He is bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on January 6.
