The victim says they returned home to find it had been broken into.

They then realised a fire had been lit in one of the rooms, which, although had burnt out, had left scorch marks on the walls.

A black Saab estate had been stolen from the driveway and three paintings were also taken, along with other valuables including jewellery and porcelain items.

Images of two of the stolen paintings – one a portrait of a woman and the other a seascape – have been released in the hope of tracking them down.
