Castle Farm in Shoreham near Sevenoaks rated one of the UK’s most Instagrammable lavender fields

A Kent farm has been revealed to have some of the most Instagrammable lavender fields in the country.

Castle Farm in Shoreham, near Sevenoaks, was rated fourth in the number of tags on the social media app.

The family-run farm is the largest producer of lavender in the UK, growing more than 140 acres.

With a specialised distillery on-site, the essential oils from the fragrant flowers are extracted within hours of being harvested.

It is managed by William and Caroline Alexander and their three children, Lorna, Thomas and Crispin.

They offer guided tours, bring your own picnics and walks across the fields from late June until late July.

Spanning 1,100 acres, it also has crops such as wheat, barley, rapeseed, hops, apples and pumpkins, as well as a grass-fed herd of beef cattle.

The family have been growing the flowers in Redmans Lane since 1998 but the farm itself is steeped in history.

It was all made possible thanks to one farmer who made an interesting journey down from Scotland.

The 80,000 lavender plants make for picturesque views, which are very popular with visitors and social media enthusiasts alike.

New research commissioned by betting firm Mr Gamble took to Instagram and came up with the top 10 lavender fields in the UK with the most tags.

Castle Farm came fourth on the list, with 13,150 mentions.

Mayfield Lavender Farm in Surrey was top, with an impressive 39,893 tags.

In second is Hitchin Lavender in Hertfordshire, with 35,564 tags.

Cotswold Lavender in Worcestershire came third, with 14,305 tags on the app.

Honourable mentions include Lordington Lavender in Sussex at number five, followed by Norfolk Lavender, located in the village of Heacham.
