The blaze is believed to have started in the kitchen after the hob was accidentally left on.

Firefighters supported two residents with oxygen after they suffered from smoke inhalation. Both were then handed into the care of SECAmb paramedics for precautionary checks.

Crews also gave oxygen to a dog using a special animal mask.

Firefighters are now urging people once again to check, and then check again, to make sure hobs and other cooking appliances are turned off after cooking, to reduce the chance of a fire starting.

The incident was reported at half past midday and crews left the scene a little after 2pm.
