Man to appear at court after death of Avril Burr in Otford

A man will appear at court following the death of a much-loved Sevenoaks businesswoman.

Avril Burr was walking her dog Libby along Pilgrims Way in Otford in October when she was knocked down by a silver Perodua Nippa.

The 60-year-old was flown to St George's Hospital in London but died from her injuries the next day.

A 25-year-old Sevenoaks man has now been summonsed to appear at court for causing death by careless driving on Tuesday, May 3.

Mrs Burr, who was born in Canterbury but lived in Sevenoaks from the age of 11, ran Amherst Accountancy with her twin brother, Marc Vernet.

The firm, based in Pembroke Road, has been serving clients in and around Sevenoaks for more than 26 years.

In the weeks after her death Mrs Burr's family paid tribute to her. In a statement they said: "Avril Burr met with the most horrific and brutal road accident that took her life.

"She was giving her dog Libby a routine walk that she had done many times before, when tragedy struck and took her away.

"The loss to her family and friends will always remain immeasurable.

Mrs Burr attended Combe Bank School and St. Gregory's Catholic School. She leaves behind two children and five grandchildren.

The family added: "She was a local girl with a loving and fun filled personality that lifted the lives of others.

"She also leaves her long term partner Barry, and her twin brother devastated with this sudden loss that has stopped their worlds.

"Avril was also an extremely supportive person that would help anyone whenever she could, and was genuinely interested in people.

"These qualities made her a successful business women, and helped her build an award winning business. There will be many people that mourn the loss of this charming and accomplished lady."
