A man has been charged with murder following a disturbance at a residential property.
Police were called shortly after 8am on Sunday, May 5, to Styles Close in Four Elms, near Edenbridge, where a woman had reportedly been assaulted.
Medical crews from the ambulance service also attended. The 51-year-old victim died at the scene.
Police have been in the area over the last three days carrying out inquiries.
The road had been tapped off with officers not letting anyone in or out. One resident who lived nearby said they first heard sirens in the early morning.
"I went outside and saw a man on the phone as the ambulance was arriving," he explained. "I asked if she was okay but he just grunted and turned away."
The resident noted that just 30 minutes later the police showed up.
"At one stage there was at least three police vehicles, one of which was a large van," he added.
"Detectives then came round and interviewed everyone.
"I've been here for seven years – it's a quiet and relaxed area – everyone is very friendly."
Tom Lock has lived in the village for 22 years and says it has a great community, but has become more rowdy recently.
He said: "I didn't hear anything at the time, so it was only when a neighbour came round that I found out she was dead. It's quite a quiet area and very remote.”
"I don't know what the world is coming to," he added. "We used to leave our doors open, now I don't want to leave the house."
Huseyin Kalyoncu, 33, was arrested and the following day was charged with murder.
The suspect, who was known to the victim, appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He was then remanded in custody. A plea and trial preparation hearing at Maidstone Crown Court has been scheduled for Monday, June 3.
