Firefighters had to cut a man free from an overturned van in the early hours of this morning.

The accident happened on the A20 London Road in West Kingsdown at around 4am.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called and the road was closed while crews stabilised the Ford Transit van before using lifting and hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment to release the injured man from the vehicle.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "A man aged in his 20s was taken to hospital.

"His injuries were not believed to be life threatening."

The three fire engines left the scene shortly after 5am and the road was reopened around 6.30am.
