A man has died after falling from a bridge on the M25.
The clockwise carriageway was shut between Junction 6 at Godstone, in Surrey, and Junction 7 near Redhill, yesterday (Friday) with queues stretching back into Kent.
Traffic was temporarily held to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident.
A Surrey Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for information after a man died after falling from a bridge on the M25.
“Officers were called at around 5.45pm. The motorway was closed in both directions between Junction 6 and 7.
“The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances, but the death is not thought to be suspicious.”
Lengthy queues backed up into Kent, just before Junction 5, and motorists were diverted off the motorway.
Drivers had to exit the M25 at Junction 6.
Anyone driving on the M25 between Junction 6 and 7 at the time who has any information or dashcam footage that could help police should call 101, quoting SYP-20240419-0635.
