Rio 2016 proposal: Race walker and Tonbridge AC star Tom Bosworth from Sevenoaks engaged

A Kent Olympian is celebrating today after proposing to his boyfriend on a beach in Rio.

Tom Bosworth, 26, who competes in race walking, got down on one knee and popped the question to partner Harry Dineley yesterday.

A delighted Mr Dineley accepted and Mr Bosworth, who was born in Sevenoaks and is a member of Tonbridge Athletic Club, put a sparkly ring on his finger.

Yesterday lunch time, the sportsman, who was in the men's 20K walking race last Friday, tweeted a photo of the proposal with the caption: "He said YES!!"

Hisfiancé tweeted a picture of the ring shortly afterwards, simply saying: "Ok then."

Mr Bosworth came sixth in his race with a personal best of 1 hour 20 minutes and 13 seconds.

Qualifying for Rio was a dream come true for Mr Bosworth who missed out on being selected for London 2012 by an agonising 19 seconds.
