Come smell the success at Castle Farm in Shoreham

A blooming lovely day was had by all on a tour of the UK’s largest lavender farm.

Cllr Simon Raikes, chairman of Sevenoaks District Council, visited the Hop Shop in Shoreham.

He said: “Lavender oil distilled at Castle Farm is sold to a factory in Kent which is a major production centre for one of the world’s largest fragrance companies."

He said: “It is a centre of innovation and excellence, typical of so many of the businesses based in our rural communities.”

The Redmans Lane farm shop offers local produce and gifts, and is opening its lavender fields to the public for the first time this year.

Visitors can sit in the 95 acres of lavender to enjoy a picnic on a summer’s afternoon, and
