A lane closure was in place until around 8.40am, with four miles of congestion and delays of around 20 minutes.

Drivers faced heavy traffic on the A20 London Road between Birling Road and A25 Maidstone Road due to the lane closure on the M26.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “We were called at 6.45am on Tuesday, August 15 to a collision on the M26 near junction 2A which involved three vehicles.

“Officers and ambulance services attended and two people were taken to hospital with injuries, which were not life-threatening. The scene is now clear.”
