The foundations of a new 75-bed care home have been laid in Sevenoaks.

Located in Seal High Street, will provide nursing and residential care and create more than 100 new jobs in the area.

The home is due to open in late 2017 and will be operated by Greensleeves Care, a national care charity that also runs Gloucester House nursing home in Sevenoaks.

Construction is being carried out by R Durtnell & Sons, the same firm that built the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate.

Management teams from both organisations took part in a ‘brick laying’ ceremony this week as work started at the site.

Chris Shaw, chairman of Greensleeves Care, said, “As a charity dedicated to caring for

older people, we are delighted to be able to increase the number of people we can

support in the local Kent area.
