Sevenoaks Town 6 Lordswood 1 match report FA Cup

Sevenoaks produced a classy performance to ease past Lordswood in the FA Cup extra preliminary round on Saturday.

Frankie Sawyer grabbed a hat-trick for Oaks, who start their Bostik South East campaign next week.

Lordswood, having won their first two Southern Counties East League Premier Division games, were well beaten.

There was little to choose between the sides in the first 15 minutes.

Given that Lordswood equalised within two minutes having fallen behind suggested a tight contest.

But Sevenoaks were clinical in front of goal with the chances that Lordswood's lapse defending presented them.

Billy Bennett was at full stretch to turn the ball home in the 17th minute but Lords replied immediatley, George Blake firing in from the edge of the box after a right-wing corner was half-cleared.

Sevenoaks went ahead again on 31 minutes, the unmarked Kenny Pogue nodding in Mikey Dalton's cross from close range.

Three minutes later it was 3-1 as Pogue's low shot was turned in on the line by strike partner Sawyer.

Lordswood conceded a fourth on the counter attack four minutes before half-time, Bennett winning a penalty after being fouled by keeper Tony Coaxall. Sawyer sent the Lordswood keeper the wrong way with his spot-kick.

Sevenoaks put the result beyond doubt five minutes into the second half when Lordswood were again caught on the counter, Sawyer nodding in unmarked from close range to complete his hat-trick.

Tom Ripley's header came back off the upright on the hour as Sevenoaks continued to dominate.

They completed their best-ever win in the FA Cup four minutes from time, Pogue scoring from close range after more good work by Bennett.
