Air ambulance called to Eastchurch after man hit by car seriously injured

Police want to hear from witnesses after a man was hit by a car in Eastchurch, leaving him seriously hurt.

Emergency crews including the air ambulance were called to the accident on Lower Road at the junction with Eastchurch Road, just after 10pm last night.

The vehicle is reported to not have stopped at the scene.

The man, who is believed to be in his 50s, was taken to Medway Maritime hospital with serious leg injuries, and the road was temporarily closed.

Officers have now launched an appeal for anyone who saw the accident, or the car or pedestrian beforehand, to come forward.
