Baseball bat thugs hunted

A man was taken to hospital after being attacked by a group of people with a baseball bat.

The assault happened in Railway Terrace, Queenborough, at 4am on Christmas Eve.

It happened outside the Queen Phillippa but police have stressed the pub had nothing to do with the incident.

A 31-year-old man from Sheppey was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with head injuries, but his condition was not life-threatening.

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of GBH.

They are three Islanders - a 46-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman and a 31-year-old woman - and a 49-year-old woman from north Kent.

A police spokesman confirmed officers found parts of a baseball bat at the scene.

The road was closed for hours while police investigated the incident and it caused traffic chaos for many drivers trying to leave or get to Queenborough and Rushenden.
