Minster produced a miserable batting performance as they slumped to a 50-run defeat at Catford & Cyphers in Shepherd Neame Kent League Division 2 on Saturday.

Chasing a modest target of 123, Minster lost their first five wickets for just eight runs and were eventually dismissed for 73, with only a sixth-wicket stand between Nathan Nichol (29) and Andy Hosken (22) saving James White’s side from greater embarrassment.

White (pictured), who picked up 4-51 in the Catford innings, said: "We bowled and fielded well, but the less said about our batting the better.

"After getting them out for 123 we went into tea confident of getting a victory but then we lost those five quick wickets and it was always going to be hard work coming back from that.

"We are playing Dartford at home this Saturday, who had a good win last weekend and I have said to the boys that we have got to take positives from the way we bowled and fielded against Catford but need a big improvement in the batting."
