Plans for a residential children's home have been submitted.

Swale council has received proposals to convert a house in Delamark Road, Sheerness, into a care facility.

The existing property is an end-of-terrace, four bedroom house with a garden.

The plans are for it to be converted into a care home – incorporating a bedroom for a child and a office downstairs for staff.

The home can accommodate up to three young people, however, it will be initially used by one child aged between 12 and 18.

It will cater for children who have learning difficulties, including ADHD and Autism.

The property itself is a under a 10-minute walk away from Rose Street Primary School and St Edward’s Catholic Primary School.

It will be run by PCS Services and will have five staff – one of whom who will sleep at the home overnight.

They plan to provide 24-hour care, seven days a week.

The property is a few doors down from a care home previously known as The Mount, which looked after adults with learning disabilities before closing down in 2016.
