Associated Sheppey Bikers Christmas Run visits Island care homes

Bitterly cold weather meant some of the intrepid members of a bikers' group switched to their cars for their annual festive visit to care homes.

The Associated Sheppey Bikers were determined their trip would go ahead.

Chairman Ty Bland said: "It was freezing, so we erred on the side of caution on our Christmas Run.

"Even if there wasn't a cavalcade of bikes making a ruckus through the town and across the Island we managed to get the presents out."

The riders and drivers met at the Heritage micropub at Halfway on Sunday morning and then visited Neptune House in Marine Parade, Sheerness, the Little Oyster care home on The Leas at Minster, The Island Care Home at Leysdown and Barton’s Court in Minster.

Among the members was a smattering of Santas, Batman and Batgirl and a reindeer.

Then it was back to Sheerness East Working Men's Club at Halfway. The association is marking its 25th year. The run was supported by Tesco.
