Boy, 11, hit by car outside Oasis Academy, Minster, Sheppey

An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car as he left school.

The youngster is believed to have run into the vehicle's path in Minster Road, Minster.

He was leaving the Oasis Academy when the accident happened around 3.15pm.

A school spokesman said the pupil wasn't too badly injured as the car was going slowly.

He suffered injuries to his leg and hip and has been taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

The spokesman added the boy had got up after the accident and said he was OK.

However, as a precaution the ambulance was called. Two police cars attended as well.
