Coronavirus Kent: Sheppey-based Travelmasters to continue getting children to school amid the Covid-19 pandemic

A bus company says it will continue getting vulnerable children and those with key worker parents to school.

Today will be the last day at school for most children across the country until further notice as they shut due to the coronavirus crisis.

But Sheppey-based Travelmasters is asking for key workers to get in touch so its school buses can carry on collecting their children.

It comes after the government today published a list of key workers whose children can still go to school if they cannot be looked after at home.

These workers' jobs are considered "critical" for the response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The list has been split into eight categories including frontline health and social care staff, nursery and teaching staff, and those involved in food production, processing, distribution, sale and delivery.

Travelmasters has asked any one who is included in the list to send a message to the firm via its Facebook page with the location of their child's bus stop and the name of their secondary school.

A spokesman said: "We will do our best to get your child to school in these worrying times."

"Please do not send us your information if you do not intend to send your child to school," he added.
