Mystery parachute seen over Sheppey

Can you solve the mystery of the object which parachuted into the sea off the Isle of Sheppey?

What looks like a pilot's ejector seat was videoed dropping into the waves off Minster Beach on the evening of Sunday, September 6.

Layla Stagg of Invicta Road, Sheerness, said: "My son observed something going into the sea which looked like a child’s car seat attached to a parachute. We are a bit concerned about what it was."

Her son, 19, took a video on his mobile phone which shows the object spiralling down and then crashing into the water with a splash.

She said: "My son was with a friend at the time and he saw it, too."

Did anyone else see the puzzling parachute?

Do you have any ideas what the UFO - unidentified floating object - could be? The fact that it was spotted on a Sunday rules out military activity at the Shoeburyness firing range across the water in Essex.
