Swale Vehicle Enthusiasts’ Club annual show held in Halfway, Sheppey

More than 300 exhibitors put their classic motors on display at the Swale Vehicle Enthusiasts’ Club annual show.

Sunday’s gathering at the Stevedores Club off Queenborough Road was the 27th held on the Island and described as the best yet by organisers.

One of the star attractions was a 1955 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire, one of only 600 produced in Britain.

The show’s co-ordinator, Vic Booth, from High Street, Eastchurch, said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day.

“For some reason, our show attracts a wide variety of unusual and different cars.

“We had lots and lots of traders and very good reports from everyone saying what a good event it was.”

Vic said visitor numbers hadn’t been verified, but proceeds from the weekend’s display will go towards Kent Air Ambulance.

“We’ll be starting work on next year’s show very soon,” he said.
