Leysdown Carnival 2017

Residents are lining their town's streets this afternoon as an annual carnival takes place.

The Leysdown Carnival has been running every year since 1978.

Floats have been travelling down Leysdown Road, The Promenade and Grove Avenue since 2pm.

Organisers were hoping to boost the carnival after the number of floats depleted in recent years.

Local groups and businesses have been invited to take part in the procession and to have stalls along the route.

Visitors can also enjoy live music throughout the day, with the parade finishing around 4pm.
