Crews called to van fire in Uplands Way, Halfway, Sheppey

A man was treated for burns to his hands after a fire engulfed his van.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze in Halfway this morning.

They were called at 10.40am to Uplands Way where a white Transit van was alight.

It was extinguished by 11.25am.

Police also attended and the cause of the fire is unknown.

The injured man is believed to have suffered slight burns to his hand, and was treated by a paramedic.

Fire crews remained at the scene damping down hotspots until about 11.45am.
