Eastern Athletics Club have completed their refit and are now pushing forward in their plans to establish themselves in a variety of sports.

Secretary Colin Dawson has already helped oversee the rapid rise of the amateur boxing club and is now aiming to get a foothold in the sport of athletics.

The club, based at Leysdown Village Hall, are seeking an experienced athletics coach to drive their plans forward and Dawson has big visions for the club which was established just four years ago in Warden Bay.

Mr Dawson said: "We’re a sports club now and covering the whole spectrum. We want to keep kids off the streets.

"We’ve had a heavyweight representing England and boys boxing for Kent and had great success. We’re keen to do the same for athletics.

"This is going to be a big club when it’s all up and running."

Donations from local authorities and the National Lottery have enabled the club to bring in new gym equipment and update their boxing facilities, which include a ring and 12 punch bags.

There is a football club which play on the newly-installed pitch next door to their base at the Warden Bay Village Hall. The club are also installing floodlights and Dawson doesn’t want to stop there.
