Workers move in to replace galleon ship at Beachfields play area, Sheerness

Work has started on ripping out a 33-year-old piece of play equipment.

The Beachfields play area, Sheerness, had part of its galleon ship taken out today.

It is due to be replaced with a state-of-the-art castle.

A digger and angle grinder were used in the sandpit to remove stubborn parts embedded in the hidden concrete.

The new equipment will include a pole to slide down, climbing net and slide.

The work is set to be completed in time for Easter.
