Thieves target Sheppey Fire Station in Sheerness High Street as firefighters attend emergency

A fire station has been broken into while crews were out responding to an emergency.

Personal belongings including a bank card owned by a firefighter were stolen during the raid, which happened at Sheppey fire station in Sheerness High Street just after 8pm on Sunday.

A fire service spokesperson said: “A firefighter’s belongings were stolen from Sheppey fire station on Sunday, 21 January, while the crew was responding to an incident.

“Kent Police has been informed.”

The crew were attending a fire at a derelict pub in Sittingbourne which is thought to have been started deliberately.

Five fire engines were sent to the blaze at the former Kemsley Arms, in Ridham Avenue, Kemsley at around 5.30pm.

Police confirmed no arrests have yet been made, but the investigation is ongoing.
