The 49-year-old from Eastchurch was arrested yesterday on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of a firearm with intent.

A police spokesman said: "He is currently in custody."

Anti-hunt saboteurs from East Kent Sabs claimed their surveillance drone was "shot out of the sky" by a member of the Ashford Valley and Tickham Hunt at Harty on Saturday and have posted a video of their footage.

They say a huntsman fired shots at the drone as it zoomed in on what they say were four terrier-man digging out a fox which had gone to ground.

A spokesman for the hunt said: "We conduct legal hunting activities to comply with the Hunting Act 2004.

"We will, of course, assist the police should there be an investigation following any allegations about our hunting activities.”
