Fundraising appeal set up to help pay for Alex Arcadipane's funeral after he died in crash on Brielle Way, Sheerness

An online fund has been set up to help pay for the funeral of a single dad who died after a road crash.

Alex Arcadipane passed away on Friday, two days after his Yamaha YQ 100 collided with a Citroen C2 in Brielle Way, Sheerness.

The 26-year-old, who suffered multiple injuries, was flown to St George's Hospital, south London after being treated at the scene.

His friends Charlene Freshwater, 28, and Chris Davis, 31, of Lovell Road, Minster, want to raise £1,000 towards the funeral.

Ms Freshwater, who was a close friend, is hoping the GoFundMe page will help towards costs and allow his two young daughters to buy flowers.

She said: “He was so young and because of that fact something like this had never been thought out.

“There is no way of making this easier for Alex’s dad or his two young daughters, but we can at least make the expenses a little easier for his family.”

On Saturday, the Minster resident's family paid tribute to him in a statement, saying he would be missed by all who knew him, especially his daughters Lucy and Ellie.

Meanwhile, police are still appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward and share information.

Crash scene officers were looking into the possibility brake fluid on the road may have contributed to the collision.
