Hundreds of homes and businesses hit by power cut

Hundreds of properties in Sheerness have been hit by a blackout.

Around 400 Shops, businesses and residents in the high street area of the town have been affected by the power-cut, which EDF said is because of a fault on the electricity distribution network.

The power went out at about 1pm today (Friday).

A spokesman for EDF said: “EDF Energy Networks is working to restore supplies to everyone affected as swiftly as is safely possible.

“We would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused.”
