Incident at Sheerness railway station

A person has died after being struck by a train near Sheerness railway station this morning.

The service between Sittingbourne and Sheerness was suspended for over three hours while officers from British Transport Police (BTP) investigated.

Police are yet to released further information about the incident, including the person's personal details and what exactly happened.

A BTP spokesman said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should get in touch.

Train services returned to normal around lunchtime.
