The Lovell Road play area in Minster will be an even brighter place for children when a fence displaying a mural from six schools is completed.

The project is the brainchild of eight mums who have formed the Friends of Lovell Road.

They have been busy raising money to improve the play area with new equipment while creating a more cheerful environment.

Six schools are contributing paintings to adorn a long fence with murals measuring 8ft by 4ft.

The latest are from St George's Primary and Minster Primary.

Others pupils contributing are from New Road Community Arts Centre, Isle of Sheppey Academy East Site, Halfway Houses Primary School and the former Danley Middle School.

"We have had tremendous support from families, residents and traders," said group founder Belinda Skinner.

"With their help, our fund-raising is paying for the fencing and equipment, while Swale Borough Council will be doing the installation work."
