A former town mayor described her year in office as a “lot of fun and hard work” and has promised to keep her hand in with community issues and campaigns.

Jackie Constable handed over her chains and title of Mayor of Queenborough to her successor Carol Champ after a “rewarding and fulfilling” year serving the town she was born.

She said working with Queenborough First School promoting regeneration and caring for the environment was one of the highlights of the year.

The project was part of the Our Regeneration schools initiative developed by the South East England Development Agancy (SEEDA)

She also said the annual Walk the Plank Championships and working with the BBC’s Spring Watch Action Team, Radio Kent and representatives from Kent wildlife Trust to clean up the area behind Queenborough Fire Station have been memorable.
