Man’s body discovered on Shellness Beach near Leysdown

Emergency services were called to a beach after the body of a man was discovered.

Police and firefighters quickly made their way to Shellness Beach near Leysdown, on Sheppey, shortly after noon today.

A fire engine and four police cars were seen in Shellness Road at about 1pm.

A police spokesman said: "At 12.22pm, Kent Police was called to Shellness Beach, Leysdown, following the discovery of a man’s body.

"The man was declared deceased at the scene and, at present, no suspicious circumstances have been identified.

"Officers are continuing to conduct inquiries and will prepare a report for the coroner."

The man was in his 60s and from the local area. His next of kin has been informed.
