Man's jaw broken in seafront attack

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old man suffered a broken jaw in an unprovoked attack.

The man was walking along the Esplanade at Sheerness when he was approached by two men with a dog.

Following a verbal altercation one of the men punched the victim on the left cheek and the second man hit him around the jaw, fracturing his jawbone.

Investigating officer DC Jo Davies from Sheerness CID said: "This was a nasty attack which left the victim in hospital with a broken jaw.

"The first man is described as aged between 20 and 30, of a slight build and with ginger hair. The second man was also slightly built and had short brown hair."

The incident happened some time between 11.20am and 11.40am on Tuesday, March 1, although it wasn't reported to police until a week later.

DC Davies is keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the assault or events leading up to it.
