One quick-fingered snapper on the Isle of Sheppey spotted the beautiful lights and captured them from her home.

Emmaline Higgs said: “I took the pictures in my back garden. It’s my second time capturing the aurora on the Island.

“I was over the moon having travelled all the way to Iceland to see them in the past.”

An aurora is a natural light display in the sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions, and is more commonly associated with Scandinavian countries.

Fern Sherratt-Wells also caught the lights in the south of the county.

She said: “I think we only caught the tail end of it and it was a struggle to see with the naked eye.

“So I put my camera on a low shutter speed of 25-30 seconds & captured these.”
