Pensioner dies after being hit by car in Leysdown Road, Sheppey

A pensioner has died after being hit by car.

The woman, in her 70s, was a pedestrian and pushing a trolley bag when she was hit by a white Seat Exeo in Leysdown Road, Sheppey, yesterday evening.

The incident happened at around 4.45pm near the junction with Bay View Gardens and the road was closed for hours as a result.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is carrying out enquiries and officers are appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward."
