Prisoners collapse in Sheerness High Street after reportedly taking legal highs on day of release

Two ex-inmates are understood to have had a bad reaction to a legal high taken on the day they were released from jail.

Ambulances and police were called to two locations in Sheerness town centre at around 12.45pm today.

The pair are thought to have bought a substance and taken it in the High Street.

But they suffered an adverse reaction and emergency services were called.

An ambulance and police car were seen attending to a man in Victory Street.

Another ambulance and two paramedic cars were spotted seeing to another man in nearby Beach Street.

A police spokesman said: "We were called around 12.45pm on February 26 following a report two men had become unwell in Sheerness.

"Both men have been taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident."
