Sheppey coach Peter Olliver is planning a change of routine in a bid to keep his side in the Kent 1 promotion race.

Olliver’s team make the short trip to rivals Sittingbourne on Saturday and he is determined to get the pre-match preparations right.

Sittingbourne won the reverse fixture at Sheppey 15-13 earlier in the season and occupy the second promotion spot, sitting 10 points ahead of fifth-placed Sheppey.

"It’s important we beat them if we have any aspirations of finishing second or first," said Olliver.

"The main job will be trying to keep the team calm because in the last game the players went over the top.

"We had a lunch as well before that game and some of the players were at the ground an hour and a half before the match.

"We have to try and keep the occasion away from the players and the preparations this time will be completely different.

"We’ll do the strapping at our own club and get that out of the way and we’re going to do the preparation in Sheppey.

"We could be completely kitted up before getting there and we’ll have a chat about that.

"We can just turn up then for the warm-up."
